Diego Fernández Lima's brother reacts to the unexpected turn of events in the case: "I want it all to be over."

“ He was in charge of implementing maneuvers aimed at concealing the crime .” That was the argument made by prosecutor Martín López Perrando to justify the pursuit of Cristian Graf , the prime suspect in the murder of Diego Fernández Lima. Javier, the victim's brother, present at the LN+ studios on Wednesday morning, said: “ I don't know if I would sit down and talk with Graf . I want it all to be over and then we'll see what happens.”

“ My mom is sad . Ten days ago, she was expecting a call , but now she's not,” Fernández Lima said. “For me, Diego was everything, and thanks to the bricklayers' testimony , we were able to learn the truth. If they didn't speak up, my mom and I would have died without knowing the truth ,” she explained.
According to the head of the 61st National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office, Graf's approaches to the construction site were always intended as a means of spying . From López Perrando's analysis until May 20, the day the skeletal remains were discovered , Graf "was worried." After that date, "he became busy."
“ The last day we saw him, Diego grabbed a tangerine, told us he'd be back later, and left ,” Fernández Lima recalled in the LN+ studios. “That same night, my mom went to file a report at Police Station No. 39. There they told her: 'Don't worry, he'll be back. He probably went off with a girl.'” For 41 years, his disappearance was classified as a runaway.
In Javier's words, "Diego's school friends contacted me, one even came to testify from abroad ."
Asked about the hypothetical implications for Graf's family, Fernández Lima emphasized: "That will be determined by the courts. But it would be tremendous, because birthdays, births, and Christmases were celebrated in that courtyard ."
Finally, Diego's brother confessed to a habit he's maintained, and one he recently acquired. " For 41 years, we've celebrated Diego's birthday every March 29th . On the other hand, since his bones were discovered, my mom and I moved into his room, and we've slept there ever since ," he concluded.
In a new appearance on LN+ , Javier Fernández Lima stated that, “although I disagree with the statute of limitations on the case, I respect the justice system and the professionals who comprise it.” “ My family and I have not been on good terms for 41 years ,” he stated.

Referring to the recent discovery of his brother's remains, he said: " For us, Diego died 20 days ago , not 41 years ago. We thought he was missing and we hoped to see him again ."
“ A man approached and said we were forbidden to touch a small tree next to a banana tree. He called our attention because they were building a new median wall. It didn't make much sense to prohibit work because of a tree that, in itself, wasn't conspicuous or anything like that, and that was also on the construction site itself, particularly on the laid-out median wall.” This was the testimony given by Rolando Medina Rodas, one of the bricklayers who was struck by Cristian Graf's attitude. “ He seemed worried ,” he concluded.
On August 12, Prosecutor Martín López Perrando charged Cristián Graf—in whose home the remains of his former high school classmate, Diego Fernández Lima, were found—with the crimes of "aggravated concealment" and "suppression of evidence" and requested that he be summoned to testify. At this time, National Criminal Judge Alejandro Litvack must decide whether to grant the request made by the Public Prosecutor's Office representative.
The judicial official based his accusation on statements from the bricklayers at the construction site on the land adjacent to the Graf home where the remains of Diego Fernández Lima were found.
The representative of the Public Ministry explained: “When the excavation work began on the house next to his home, he seemed worried, afraid that the truth would come to light, and so he told the workers that they were prohibited from cutting down a certain tree that was close to the median wall that divided both properties, and even when it was impossible for them to comply with this request, his attitude as the construction progressed was extremely concerned: he observed, he kept watch, he saw that with every passing minute the possibility of the victim's remains being found increased.”
